My parents moved to Munster after I found an apartment at Purdue and stopped coming home in the summer. I still called it home though I slept in a guest room.

The building was a sales office for the surrounding development. It was later a Tea Room and some president once drank there. My father bought it as an aging structure, built the attached apartment in a matching style, and converted his telephone based real estate business into the premier walk in office in the region. google 
My father rented this apartment to a couple while we grew up. He and mom moved there when we boys were on our way. For me it was then more home in mind than practice. See At Home on Prairie Ave
